DIY Sanding Machine: Turn PVC Pipes into a 2-in-1 Power Tool Masterpiece

Hi In this video, I will show you how to build a dual-function sanding machine: 1.Disc Sander 2.Belt Sander I am using PVC because it is lightweight, durable, and waterproof, and you might already have some pieces of it lying around in your garage or yard. This machine is perfect for small workshops and home use. It supports hook-and-loop disc sandpapers with a diameter of 11.5 cm and belt sandpapers up to 15 cm wide. I used a 775 motor because it has high power and speed and works well with voltages ranging from 12V to 36V. You can customize this machine—for example, use a more powerful motor or build a larger disc sander. The machine allows sanding at various vertical and horizontal angles, including 45-degree sanding. It is also suitable for sanding wood, plastic, and soft metals. The belt sander can be adjusted to different angles for easier operation. To make the belt sandpaper, I used two-part epoxy glue, but the best method is to use special belt sanding adhesive (which I didn’t have). I have made ventilation slots on both sides of the tool to improve air circulation and cool the motor. Additionally, for extra safety and to prevent overheating, I installed a thermal switch, which extends the motor’s lifespan. The power is transmitted through GT2 pulleys and GT2 belts, and you can adjust the number of pulley teeth as needed. The belt tracking can be adjusted easily with two screws, and the machine supports belt sandpapers with a maximum perimeter of 500 mm.
