Dry Ice Crystal Ball - Giant Dry Ice Bubble

Make a giant dry ice bubble that resembles a crystal ball, filled with swirling fog. All you need for this project is dry ice, hot water and bubble solution. Pour hot water into a bowl, add dry ice and smooth a film of bubble solution over the rim of the container. I used a paper towel that I had soaked in bubble solution, but you could use your hand or a wet rag. The dry ice sublimates to form carbon dioxide gas, which blows up the bubble. Usually the bubbles reaches an equilibrium point, where the amount of carbon dioxide escaping through the wall of the bubble is the same as the amount of carbon dioxide sublimating off the dry ice. Eventually the bubble film evaporates too much to contain the gas. The crystal ball or giant bubble pops!
