This is a story I've been wanting to tell for a long time. The Fairmount line is Boston's shortest, but in my opinion, it's best commuter rail service. The line started as a temporary diversion for Amtrak and commuter rail trains while the southwest corridor (the Boston section of the northeast corridor), was under construction, but through systematic infrastructure and service improvements, it grew into something much more than that.
