Aln Valley Railway, near Alnwick, with NCB Austerity number 60 running on 26th May 2024
We look around the Aln Valley Railway near Alnwick and see former NCB Austerity number 60, with its modified cab for the restricted loading gauge on the Lambton colliery railway, running the current length of line. 12 years ago the Lionheart station was undeveloped land and a lot of work has been completed on the site which curves sharply and down gradient to join the original trackbed between Alnwick and Alnmouth. The Aln Valley Railway plans to extend to Alnmouth and runs through some wonderful countryside. Pacers also operate on this line and we see a variety of other small locomotives at the site.
