You maybe wondering why I’ve left my bike take so much dirt when it’s a common practice for mountain bikers to at least clean it as soon as possible. I live in Panama, specifically in a province where we I’m basically deprived from any kind of bike shop. I could do the one hour drive to the city and head to the closest shop once you reach there. Unfortunately the bike shop closed leaving me with no other option but to drive even further. This has lead to me taking more responsibility for my bike, I’ve taken as a 2018 resolution to not only be able to start learning to maintain my bike and allow myself a monthly visit to the bike shop to refine any mistakes I may have made. Consider this as my personal journey towards being a mechanic for the basic tasks. I’d like to learn by myself the basic maintenance tasks and then leave the most complex ones for the experts as well as get back at them for feedback. I’ve been cleaning with Muc Off from day one. I don’t have any preferences on the brand, it’s just the first brand I’ve tried and it has given me a satisfactory experience. Although I try to stay as open minded with other brands I’m honestly happy with what I use. Muc Off seems like a more solid brand in my opinion. Something I would highly suggest is that if you like to buy online through places like Amazon be sure to check on regulations on articles containing chemicals like this one. I live outside of the U.S.A. and importing these can add up when paying taxes and regulations. I might just go to my local bike shops due to my waiting time and expenses, even as a Amazon Prime user this is not worth it.
