By invitation, I joined the Scanian Derbies Rally Championship for Round 1 in Rally Japan, driving in the classic and demanding Group A category in EA SPORTS WRC 🇯🇵. This rally was a true example of sim racing dad life jumping straight into a championship round right after work, with no preparation, a widened game schedule, and even a headache to top it all off. No testing, no setup refinement, just adapting on the fly. The first stage was driven cautiously and used as a warm-up and preparation stage. After that, I started pushing unfortunately too much. A poor wet setup, combined with overdriving the car and fading focus, led to several avoidable mistakes throughout the rally. Despite everything, the pace was still competitive, and at the moment I’m holding provisional P2 in the standings. Not the cleanest rally, but a solid reminder of how unforgiving Group A cars and wet Japanese stages can be.
