In The Butterfly Effect of Small Acts of Love, Atlas Lad, a North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics student, with a passion for the intersection of business, medicine, and innovative system design, traces how quiet moments on his grandfather’s porch sparked a lifelong question: how can we better cherish the people we love while they’re still here? That question inspired Embrace, a platform that sends heartfelt video montages to individuals facing serious health challenges. Drawing on personal experiences, time spent in hospitals, and emerging research, Atlas illustrates how simple gestures, a short video, a kind message, and a shared memory can uplift patients, strengthen families, and positively influence care teams. His talk ultimately challenges the audience to begin their own “butterfly effect” of compassion by reaching out to someone they love in a small, intentional way today.
