Hats Across The Row - Minnie Pearl Parade

"It literally rained on our parade today but it did not dampen our spirit" says Joseph Conner. The rain may have resulted in a small turn out for the kick off of The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation "Hats Across The Row Campaign", but the cheerful disposition Miss Minnie was all around! "Howdy" yells a few of the parade watchers - decked out in their Minnie Pearl attire! "She would have sound some sunshine to go along with this. Call it liquid sunshine" says Executive Director Susan Hosbach. Minnie impersonators were suppose to fill the streets. While they may not have been able to brave the weather, GAC's Storme Warren sure gave it his all! "We're just proud to be here", he says in his best "Minnie" voice!     In fact, most parade watchers adorned an iconic Minnie hat. "She is an icon and has left a beautiful legacy to Music City with this foundation" says Conner. Former Titan Kerry Collins revved up his motorcycle for the good causeand all along the row businesses  placed  blue signs of support."The row gets a lot of drive by traffic and marathon traffic so that helps with what we are trying to accomplish" says Susan. Minnie, who successfully beat cancer in the 80's, became a spokeswoman for the medical center in which she was treated, a place that now bears her real name, Sarah Cannon. After her death - the non profit Minnie Pearl Foundation was formed in hopes of allowing her compassionate spirit to live on.
