Hello again, folks. With the Canada Post strike over, packages that were stuck in transit for weeks are finally arriving in my mailbox – like this one, which contained three LPs I purchased from a seller in Sweden all the way back in November. The three LPs are on the DJM label but were manufactured in 1987, just after PolyGram purchased DJM. Questions I pursue: Are these true DJM issues? Or do they mark the earliest “modern reissues” of Elton’s classic catalogue on vinyl? And most importantly, how do they sound? If you enjoyed this video and/or learned anything new, please give it a “Like”. And if you haven’t yet subscribed to my channel, please consider it; I’m making new content regularly and I’d like to reach 1,000 subs by May or June of this year. And thanks to those of you who’ve already subscribed! I appreciate it! 1987 DJM VINYL REISSUES BY PHONOGRAM (PRS BAARN): Labels are charcoal grey with silver text; sleeves are standard with barcodes on upper right of back panels. Elton John (827 689-1) Tumbleweed Connection (829 248-1)* Madman Across the Water (825 487-1)* Honky Chateau (829 249-1) Don’t Shoot Me (827 690-1)* Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (827 747-1) Greatest Hits (821 750-1) Caribou (825 488-1) Captain Fantastic (821 746-1)* Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (825 486-1) Viewers from Australia have noted that some titles from this series (I've been able to confirm the * titles via Discogs) also appeared in Australia in 1988 as part of a "Price 100" or "Priceless Recordings" budget line. Those copies were not imports but were cut and pressed in Australia by various distributors (Astor, CBS Artarmon, and EMI). The Australian counterparts had the same catalogue numbers (for example: https://www.discogs.com/release/10589...) but their labels were fashioned more closely to the original first series DJM labels. (Thank you Derek and @quails5931 for this information.) CREDITS & OTHER ACKNOLWEDGEMENTS: Clip of Robert holding the 1987 Madman LP is from Robert’s My Groovie Collection channel.
