Rescued passengers receive medical treatment at PH port after ferry capsize | ABS-CBN News

Passengers rescued after a ferry they were on capsized received medical treatment after arriving at a southern Philippine port on Monday (January 26). Video released by the city government of Basilan province showed survivors huddled together and wrapped in thermal blankets. At least 15 people were killed and 316 rescued after the ferry, travelling from Zamboanga to Jolo in Sulu province, capsized in the early hours of Monday morning. The ferry had 332 passengers and 27 crew members on board. Scores of people die each year from such ferry incidents in the Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands with a patchy record on maritime safety.
