As Ehlers Danlos Awareness Month comes to a close I thought it was important to share my thoughts on the importance of getting a diagnosis and early intervention. Have you ever had a doctor say to you "Theres no point in chasing a diagnosis, There is no cure for it anyway." Well I have; and let me tell you why I think this is so wrong! The more I have gotten to know fellow EDS patients and their families the more I see how important it is to diagnose and address symptoms as soon as possible to prevent further damage and injury. As medical science and awareness continue to move forward we now have the ability to diagnose and begin to treat EDS at much earlier ages and in much more effective ways. It is my hope to spare the future generations of zebras the slow process of deterioration and search for answers that have plagued so many generations before us .
