Gui de Buire was a private recording studio, founded in the late 1940s and operating until 1955. This was the period when tape recording became possible, but expensive, so there was a market to have 78rpm discs made from taped material. GdB cut these onto blank Emidisc lacquers. The Billy Cotton bandshow aired at 1 p.m every Sunday. The disc only tells us it was December 1951. 'Ever so slightly' was written by Barry Barrron, a director/owner of Gui de Buire. Presumably the recording was organised between Cotton and Barron, so perhaps it was the first performance and Barron had a copy made for his own use. That might explain why it doesn't have fuller details, unlike commercial GdB lacquers which mostly have a reference number written on the label. The piece was popular enough that Cotton made a commerial recording for Decca (F. 9860), and it was published as sheet music featuring Cotton on the front cover.
