The blast ignited a massive fire, destroying six cars, motorcycles, and e-rickshaws in the crowded Old Delhi area. Police, NSG, and fire teams responded swiftly, cordoning off the site. The historic Red Fort, a UNESCO site, remains secure, but the city is on high alert amid investigations into the cause. Eyewitnesses described chaos and deafening noise. Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested a Hyderabad-based doctor trained in China along with two accomplices on 9th November. They were allegedly developing ricin, a deadly toxin from castor beans, linked to a global terror network. In a related raid near Delhi, Haryana Police recovered 360 kilograms of inflammable material in Faridabad. From 7th November, pollution levels started spiking sharply, touching hazardous marks by 8th. On 9th November, protesters gathered at India Gate demanding immediate action, but police detained many within hours. The opposition labelled the protest genuine while the BJP ecosystem pointed fingers at Punjab’s stubble burning. An old statement of LG VK Saxena claiming 75 percent of Delhi’s pollution is local has gone viral again. The BJP, in power at the Centre and municipalities since February, faces questions on why no effective measures were taken in the last nine months. Allegations of AQI data manipulation by the Delhi government have surfaced, with discrepancies between DPCC and CPCB readings. Doctors are openly advising vulnerable groups to leave Delhi temporarily as breathing the air is equivalent to chemical exposure. Hospital OPDs have seen a 40 percent surge, with asthma and respiratory cases doubling in the past week. Permanent lung damage among children and the elderly has become a real threat. Daily wage earners, street vendors, and rickshaw pullers cannot afford masks or migration, continuing to inhale toxic air. Schools remain shut, livelihoods are hit, yet no large-scale relief reaches the poorest two crore residents. Long-term health risks like cancer and COPD loom large for those stuck in the city. Tejashwi Yadav holded a press conference in Patna where poll promises are under sharp scrutiny. Questions are being raised on the delivery of ten lakh jobs and special status demand from the RJD side. The NDA camp is also facing heat over unemployment data despite double-engine growth claims.
