In this tutorial, learn how to turn boring normal plates into chic, one-of-a-kind dining pieces using fabric! How To Create DIY Fabric Plates (10 Easy Steps) 1. Make sure that our plates are 100% clean. Remove any stickers and use isopropyl alcohol to remove any residues. 2. Lay out your fabric and use the plate to find where you would like the pattern to lay for your final design. 3. Use the plate as a stencil and trace around it with a pencil or tailor's chalk. Make sure to add an extra inch of fabric around the plate, so we can get a cleaner final edge later. 4. Cut out your fabric with fabric shears. 5. Apply the mod podge to the bottom of the plate. Apply a heavy coat and make sure to cover the entire plate. 6. Align the center of your fabric with the plate, and slowly roll the face of the fabric onto it. Smoothing out the fabric as you go to avoid wrinkles. 7. Apply a 2nd coat of mod podge to fully saturate the fabric. Then can go back around the plate and smooth out any wrinkles or edges. 8. Trim any access fabric from around the plate. 9. Wait one hour before applying another thick coat of Mod Podge. This time wait 24 hours for it to fully dry. 10.
