Is this rusty yacht redeemable?

Welcome to the fifth episode of Season 2 In this episode we start work properly on the foredeck in a race against time to stop out boat rotting away. We need to stop the rust patches on the deck rusting right through and making things much more problematic, so it's a race against time to grind away the nasty bits, treat them and paint them so they at least survive the winter. We begin taking off the stanchion posts so we can treat around their mounting points. Because of the galvanic reaction between stainless and mild steel there's rust around the base of each post so in order to do the job properly they've all got to come off. Along with that we get stuck in pressure washing the hull so we don't look like the tattiest boat in the yard, actually we still do but it's a minor improvement. We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.
