Hōryū-ji　法隆寺

Hopped on the train to Nara again to visit Hōryū-ji temple this time, one of the oldest temples in Japan with artifacts dating back to the 600's. Famous there are two altar pieces laquered with ground up beetle wings to generate an irridescence. The pieces now housed inside a museum display seem much darker compared to my recollection from 40 years ago when they were displayed out in the open. Photos of the golden eggs and pack of dandelion flowers were taken in the Lopia supermarket in the basement of Yodobashi Camera a block north of Kyoto station.
