Just Ignore It is a film about racism. We worked with young people in Hull to create this animation based on their real life experiences of racism and racial prejudice. These are true stories that have affected everyone who took part. The young people, who are part of our Anti racism Campaign group at Youth Aspire Connect wanted to make something that gave a positive message, that empowered people to challenge racism and brought people together. They wanted to make a difference and the film is full of tips and advice on how to challenge racism in a safe way. Both in the classroom and in the wider world. We want teachers, schools, pupils and students to watch the film and make it a part of conversations about racism. The group has also written an Anti-Racism Policy for schools that we hope will be adopted across Hull, Yorkshire and beyond. We hope that this film can bring people together, to encourage them to talk about race and to encourage them to challenge racism. The vision of the young people is to build an inclusive society, where every child regardless of their race can thrive and reach their full potential. The film was produced with My Pockets, an award winning production company based in East Yorkshire and supported by Hull City Council.
