Chemicals in aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) or "firefighting foam" may cause various types of cancer. If you were a firefighter or regularly exposed to AFFF and recently diagnosed with kidney, pancreatic, prostate, or testicular cancer, you may be able to file a lawsuit and get financial compensation. AFFF AFFF (aqueous film-forming foam) is a type of firefighting foam that has been used by the U.S. military and airports for many years. The foam contains PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances), chemicals that can harm human health. MOSTLY CANCER LAWSUITS These chemicals have been linked to health problems such as cancer, liver damage, and immune system dysfunction. Most of the AFFF lawsuits our lawyers see are cancer claims. When AFFF is used to put out a fire, the chemicals can seep into the ground and contaminate the soil and water, which is why you have entire communities who have brought a fire-fighting foam lawsuit. NEVER TOLD OF HEALTH RISKS As a result, many people exposed to AFFF, including firefighters and residents living near airports and military bases, have filed lawsuits against the foam manufacturers, alleging that they knew about the potential health risks but failed to warn the public. SETTLEMENT COMPENSATION SOUGHT IN AN AFFF LAWSUIT The lawsuits seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages caused by exposure to AFFF. In some cases, the lawsuits have resulted in multi-million dollar settlements. The AFFF class action lawsuit in federal court right now seeks to hold companies accountable for their actions and make sure that people are informed about the potential health risks of the products they use. There is much speculation on an AFFF settlement in 2023. We will see if that comes to pass. There is a trial date coming up that puts real pressure on the defendants. July 2022 AFFF Lawsuit News and Update Over 100 new AFFF firefighting foam lawsuits were transferred into the AFFF MDL over the last month (June 15 to July 15), raising the number of pending cases in the MDL to 2,700. A growing number of the most recent AFFF cases are PFAS water contamination claims. The plaintiffs in these cases are mainly individuals who lived near military bases where AFFF was frequently used in training. These plaintiffs allege that this frequent use of firefighting foam caused their water supply to become contaminated with AFFF resulting in adverse health consequences. https://www.millerandzois.com/firefig... This video will discuss our estimated settlement value of the AFFF firefighting foam lawsuits in an eventual mass-tort global settlement context.
