She could barely sign her own name, and she was destined (like all the other girls) to be a wife, mother, or perhaps a holy sister in a convent somewhere. But Joan heard voices. Those voices told her she had a different destiny: she would be a soldier, a warrior. Everyone laughed at her, but she was fierce in her belief.
