Opening and Greetings We are gathered here today with heavy hearts not just to mourn, but to celebrate the life of Alfred Mike Mutai - a beloved brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend. Though his time was cut short, we celebrate a life that touched each of us in unique and unforgettable ways. BiRTH AND EARLY LiFE Alfred Mutai was born on 16th July 1963 in Kericho County, Bureti, Chemosot, Kaminjeiywet village to the late Joel Kurgat and Hildah Kurgat. He grew up with 9 siblings: the late Rachel, Nelson Mutai, Roseline Soi, Japhet Mutai, Vincent Mutai, Eric Mutai, Lilly Rono, Kennedy Mutai and Evans (Tom) Mutai. He was initiated in the year 1976 - 1977. He was the son - in - law to the late Richard Kenduiwo and Ruth kenduiwo. In 1993, he married Alice kendy and together they raised 8 beautiful children: Calcin Sigei, the late Dennis Kiprotich, Brian Sigei, Allan Sigei, Tracy Cheptoo, Einstein Sigei, Elvis Sigei and Beryl Cherono. He was brother - in - law to Zakayo Soi, Marcela, Dr. Reuben Soi, Joyce, Hannah, Caroline, Lily, Andrew Rono, Beatrice, Rose and Mercy . He was brother in law to Zakayo Soi, Joseph Koech, Henry Koech, Paul Koech, Jeremiah Koech, Edna Kalya, the late Eddah Koech, David Koech, Stephen Koech and Albert Koech. He was also brother in law to Annah kenduiywa , Rachael Kenduiywa, Edwin Koech, the late Jasper Koech, Jane Marisin, Linnah kenduiywa, Ednah Kenduiywa, Charles Koech and Kenneth Koech. He was an uncle , dad and grand dad to many. EDUCATION Alfred began his education in Kaminjeiywet Primary School in the year 1971 and sat his CPE IN 1978. He later advanced to Cheborgei High in 1979 for his O level , and completed his high school studies in 1982. Thereafter, he went to Njumbi High School for A- level in the year 1983. In 1984, he proceded to Shanzu Teachers College to pursue a career in teaching. He later on went to further his studies at the Kenya School of Special Education (KISE), and graduated in the year 2006. WORK Alfred worked as a teacher for over 30 years, where he touched many lives, teaching both academics as well as life lessons. He began his teaching career in the year 1986, at Siwot primary School, where he worked for 22 years. He was transferred to Kibisoronik Primary School in the year 2007 where he served as a deputy headteacher. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Kugunoi Primary School and later retired at Chepkirib Priamry School on 30th June 2023. He was known for his integrity and willingness to mentor young colleagues and students.
