Merry Christmas everybody!! 🎄🎄😃 Being my fourth Christmas as an active YouTuber, I make it a habit to seek out a special capture from the year with a train in a livery that fits the colour scheme of the Christmas theme. The classic German Intercity, the Thalys and the ICE 4 all went before, and today the white, red and burgundy red InterCity 225, powered by the legendary Class 91 locomotive take the stage for Christmas! 🎄 Now I got to capturing four InterCity 225 sets in total at the station of Wakefield Westgate, and wanted to safe the best for this holiday. The perfect display of the mighty unit in my opinion is with the Class 91 leading, displaying its mighty and characteristic roar prior to departing! Which by the way is a LOT of noise standing right next to. 😂 Unlike the HSTs, the InterCity 225 houses all its power in one single locomotive, but mind you; that is a 6480 horsepower beast of an engine! Quite a bit more than the double 2250 hp Class 43s of the HST, though as a diesel guy, I ofcourse do prefer those! Nonetheless for an electric train, these are absolutely fantastic units, especially in the LNER remade livery that is very reminiscent to the "old" intercity Swallow livery. Honestly however; I prefer this colour scheme!
