In support to the Indoor Residual Spraying Campaign (IRS) in Burundi in 2018, a vector control activity as prevention measure against the spread of Malaria, GIS in collaboration with environmental health specialists provided some support through interlinked GIS and information / communication technologies (ICT) from the planning to the monitoring of the spraying campaign phase. It included the use of: • two interlinked mobile applications (Kobo, OsmAnd) to enable offline data collection and daily analysis of activities. • a local server to centralise and store data; and • two mobile aggregation kits for an independent, resilient connectivity for data synchronisation. In addition, a remote mapping was done ahead of the IRS campaign with the help of Missing Maps volunteers' activation to provide an updated geo-referenced household database to support the planning as well as IRS coverage monitoring.
