I finally made some trees! Using 2-3 boxes of Super Trees from Scenic Express I made a bunch of both "normal" Super Trees and "custom" trees using Super Tree material glued to a wood skewer trunk. All these were used on the embankment between Wallace Junction and Lake City. I wanted to create a scenic divider so one can't see the other location. This was accomplished. For the straight Super Trees I mostly just followed the instructions. I spent HOURS pruning out those damn little leaves and then painted the "tree" with a flat brown and grey color. I then dipped the tree in a vat of 7:1 mixed Mod Podge and water. The trees were then flocked with Noch leaves and hung to dry. After drying for ~ 30 mins I lightly sprayed the trees with more of the Mod Podge/water concoction. On a few I tried the hanging of a pair of tweezers to straighten the tree out- actually worked fairly well! For the skewer trees I super glued Super Tree branches and set it with accelerant. I then spray the trees with the same colors. For these trees I sprayed the tree with spray adhesive until it turned white. I then flocked and dried. Again, after 30 minutes or so I sprayed with Mod Podge/water and sprinkled more leaves if needed. After drying overnight it was planting time. for the normal Super Trees I poked holes in the foam base and secured the tree with Beacon 3 in 1 adhesive. For the skewer trees I just jabbed them in and they stood just fine! The video covers some of the other small things I did. All things considered I am very happy with how this set of background trees turned out. It makes a good scene block and vastly improves the look of the overall scene in both locations. I have also gained experience working both normal and skewer type trees from the Super Tree material. Now I can comfortably finish the scene in Lake City. On to that now!
