In this video I’ll show you how to make homemade beef pot pies. repared pie crusts formed into a small cast iron skillet and filled with seasoned stir-fry beef, creamy brown gravy, peas, carrots and taters, and cooked in the oven until the crust is golden brown and flaky. Shopping List: 1 roll of refrigerated store-bought pie crust ¾ Lb. flank steak stir fry beef 2 tbls. cooking oil 2 tbls. all purpose flour, more for rolling out pie dough, or cornstarch. ½ cup water ½ cup frozen peas and carrots ¼ cup diced potatoes Kosher salt and course black pepper to taste or you can use your favorite seasoning salt blend. 1 pkg. store-bought brown gravy if not making your own. Small amount of milk and egg Directions: Pre-heat oven to 400°F. Prepare pie crusts as directed on package. If cutting to fit your skillet cut 1 inch larger than the skillet then leave the overhang for now. Cut the beef into ½ inch bite-sized pieces. Season the beef generously with the Kosher salt and pepper. In large skillet over medium-high heat add the oil when hot. Add beef and cook and stir until beef is thoroughly browned. Add ½ cup water mixed with either flour or cornstarch to the beef and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened. Add the peas/carrots/taters to the beef and gravy and cook about 5 minutes or until vegetables are thawed, stirring occasionally. Spoon mixture into pie crust-lined skillet. Top with second crust; seal edges and flute. Cut slits in several places in top crust to vent the steam while in the oven. Brush whole milk/egg wash over the top of the crust to enhance browning while in the oven. Bake at 400°F. for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!!!
