A solstice sunrise to sunset cruise along the upper peak forest canal in the Peak District. I moor up at Bugsworth basin and I meet and interview the man that initiated the original restoration in the 1960's "Ian Edgar'. In the age of the industrial revolution the basin was the largest, busiest inland port on the narrow canal system. And I'm given an assignment. My mission is to volunteer, become skipper and host for the day. Take out a Ukrainian family on a cruise up the canal to help them unwind from their worrying and stressful times after fleeing their war torn country, Ukraine. The family are staying with a host family here in the UK and they had a 'Wonderful Day'. It's a full packed 'summer special episode' not to be missed. The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter. I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal.
