Match commentary by Craig Anderson. It may have taken him 29 games of this season to open his account but the goal scored by Stars player/coach Jeff Hutchins on a shorthanded play with less than three minutes remaining was a vital one for his team -- turning out to be the game winner in an exciting contest in Braehead. Stars move above Clan and into second spot in the standings with their first road win in five but for Clan it's a downward skid right now as they fell to their sixth loss in seven. It was Stars who took the lead in this one with a strike by Jerry Pollastrone after only 6.40 but the home side restored equality at 16.43 thanks to the efforts of Shane Lust. Period two saw Clan dominate the play and outshoot Stars by a massive 25 to 8 but it was the visitors who were on song in front of goal, scoring twice without reply to take control. Nikita Kashirsky on the powerplay edged his side ahead at 29.47 and then at 37.32 Nico Sacchetti increased the advantage to two. Clan pressed in the third period but it took until 50.01 until the breakthrough with Ed McGrane on the mark on a delayed penalty. Stars were still very dangerous however and at 52.15 they seemed to snuff out all home hopes when Sacchetti scored his second on a shorthanded play. Clan were desperate now and clawed themselves back into it again at 52.37 with a powerplay effort by Matt Towe and then only 35 seconds on Lust was on the spot for his second and the game tying goal. A bench minor on Stars at 56.00 with Brock McPherson's displeasure earning him a 10 + game for abuse at the same time seemed to hand Clan more momentum but it all went horribly wrong for the hosts as Hutchins got on the end of a break to fire home the game winner at 57.39. Sam McCluskey added to the Clan misery by adding an empty net goal with 14 seconds remaining but this was a huge win for the visitors at the sound of the final buzzer.
