Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has assessed several gravel roads in the Oshana Region that are severely damaged by water following heavy rainfall. Among the affected roads is the Omagongati–Shipepe gravel road, which has suffered repeated damage. Some sections of the road have already been rehabilitated by local businessman David Sheehama of Kambwa Construction to enable motorists to make use of them. Minister Nekundi also inspected the Okapya–Onakamwandi gravel road, which is partially damaged by floodwater, as well as the Ondangwa–Ompandakani and Okapya–Ohalushu gravel roads. Motorists using these roads are urged to exercise extra caution to avoid accidents and loss of life, as the government continues to assess the situation and explore options for rehabilitation once water levels subside. In the meantime, motorists are advised to use alternative routes that remain passable, as some of the affected roads are currently impassable due to ongoing heavy rainfall.
