According to MTA posts, the "Special SIM4X and SIM8X" trips will be discontinued due to average low ridership and will be replaced by increased regular SIM4 and SIM8 trips. The SIM4X and SIM8X were created to attract more customers to the Staten Island Mall's Park and Ride. On average they appeared to be underutilized, with the SIM4X trips running approximately 15% full and the SIM8X trips running approximately 25% full. This will likely be revised into seven full-route SIM4 trips and two full-route SIM8 trips while still maintaining good ridership coverage on both lines. Enjoy!
