This is a brief overview of the newly released LG Optimus Elite for Virgin Mobile. This is mainly from the perspective of Virgin Mobile customers who are wondering whether to upgrade from an LG Optimus V or another older phone. I was wondering the same thing and didn't find a video that really addressed the questions I had -- which was basically "Is it worth the upgrade?" Most of the videos are comparing it to expensive phones from contract carriers, dubbing the Optimus Elite as a "low-end phone," which it sort of is, but we need more relevant info to make a buying decision. So here you go. Some of the topics covered. Onboard storage of 4GB (in practice more like 2ish). No more low storage warnings! Design versus older Optimus V -- plus an ipod touch thrown in for measure. Screen comparison. Both have the same 320x480 resolution but new Optimus is much better. Surprisingly good despite low resolution on 3.5 in screen. I would say the screen is great actually in terms of quality, brightness and colors. 5mp camera and 480p video. Photo quality quite good, video passable. Both are improvements over Optimus V. Better camera app. Almost no bloatware apps. Old optimus V had a handful of them. Some observations of Gingerbread 2.3.7 for vmo customers who haven't used it yet since the Optimus V was on Froyo 2.2. Sound quality and youtube. Brief mention about the HTC Evo V, coming out end of May vs this phone. Basically, if you want to spend $300 then wait, otherwise I highly recommend Optimus Elite for an economical choice. That's about it. I hope this is helpful to some people. Update: LG's website shows that the screen is gorilla glass. http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-V... About a week in -- phone is working great. GPS works very well too. When I plug the phone into my mac it doesn't show up as usb mass storage. Anyone know what's up? Right now I'm just using all the online services to transfer files.
