A group of scientists, entrepreneurs, and institutional allies who cooperate to advance molecular machines, applications in energy, medicine, and material science, and long-term progress toward Richard Feynman’s vision of nanotechnology. Dr. Chengde Mao | The Simple Side of DNA Self-assembly Dr. Chengde Mao is interested in construction of nanometer-scale architectures through programmed DNA/RNA self-assembly. The overall goal is to prepare nanostructures with moderate complexity for applications in electronics, photonics, and biomedical studies. Abstract: In programmed DNA self-assembly, being simple refers to two different aspects: i) Simple structures. Many DNA nanostructures can be assembled from smaller building blocks. Structural symmetry could be used to simplify the building blocks and the overall structures. ii) Simple process. The simple assembly process results in robust assembly and reliable reproducibility. These two aspects often interwind with each other. Since our founding in 1986 on a vision of guiding powerful technologies, we have continued to evolve into a many-armed organization that focuses on several fields of science and technology that are too ambitious for legacy institutions to support. From molecular nanotechnology, to brain-computer interfaces, space exploration, cryptocommerce, and AI, Foresight gathers leading minds to advance research and accelerate progress toward flourishing futures. We are entirely funded by your donations.
