At our next stop in the Emerald Cup of 2017 we meet Davis Lang and Lynch Miller, co-owners of Moonstone Medicinals, and talk tea as a healthy option for a peppy beverage. They share with us a sampling of their THC infused organic tea made from the yerba mate root popular in South America and talk a little about what goes into making their tasty thirst quenchers. Mate, a common beverage largely made in Argentina and Brazil from the roots and leaves of the yerba mate plant and customarily consumed from a squat round cup called a gourd through a metal straw, contains an amount of caffeine enough to pep you right up. Generally brewed with the dried leaves of the plant in a gourd of water at a temperature of about 80 degrees celcius, the bombilla (straw) is used to drink from beneath the flotsam while filtering out any leafy particulate. Herba Mate is a yerba mate tea drink without the leafy particles, infused with THC extract, and made with all organic ingredients by Moonstone Medicinals, an up and coming beverage company. Containing organic honey, peppermint, and yerba mate root, it is sold in 16 oz singles or an entire 12 pack of Sweet or Classic flavors. Each bottle contains both 80mgs of caffeine, and 80 mgs of THC. The Contact Buzz was lucky enough to sample their nitrogen infused tea. Smoother than carbonated beverages as nitrogen bubbles are 10 times smaller than that of co2 giving it a silky texture, and of smaller dosages, allowed those who took a taste to stay pepped without getting toasted. Moonstone Medicinals can be found through Instagram at Instagram.com/MoonStoneMedicinals. Sign up to follow them, or even send them a message. Keep an eye out for their upcoming CBD version, aimed to hit shelves at a local store near you. Up next we bump into Jen, an artist from Gypsy Mountain Face and Body Painting, and talk with her about how CBD oils changed her life. Stay tuned to the Contact Buzz’s trip through the festivities of the Emerald Cup of 2017.
