For example, a person knows both Yorkshire and Birmingham dialects of English, this person met one passenger in the train who knows only Yorkshire dialect. Now if the person knowing both dialects, intentionally talk with the passenger in Birmingham dialect, he/she is actually diverging and this type of speech accommodation is known as divergence.
