Anchored by the Captain Cooks restaurant, it was a bustling community with a vibrant nightlife. As I walk its streets today, El Cortecito is all but unrecognizable. Years of infrastructure neglect and beach erosion have taken a toll on the once thriving community, reducing it to a mere shell of its former self. El Cortecito can bounce back, but it will require a sizeable investment from both the private and public sectors.
