There’s been a lot of talk recently about the “border adjustment,” a proposed change to the U.S. tax system that is part of the House Republicans’ tax reform plan. Many are wondering what exactly a border adjustment is, how one would work, and what the effects would be on businesses, taxpayers, and the broader economy. In order to address these questions, the Tax Foundation will be hosting a special panel sponsored by the Intuit Tax & Financial Center on Monday, February 6 at 12pm at the Congressional Auditorium in the Capitol Visitor Center. This panel will bring together three of today’s leading tax experts to discuss the mechanics of a border adjustment, it’s economic impact, and the role it will play in 2017 tax reform efforts. Speakers will include: Elena Patel, Ph.D. Financial Economist, Office of Tax Analysis, U.S. Treasury Douglas Holtz-Eakin, President, American Action Forum William Gale, Co-Director—Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge will moderate the panel and there will be time at the end of the program for questions and answers.
