Despite setting an Indiana state record for the most tornadoes in a single day, the outbreak is often forgotten on a larger scale, overshadowed by the Hesston F5 twins of March 13th, and the Plainfield Disaster on August 28th. Today we'll look at the anomalous meteorological setup that produced these late season storms, track their formation and progression through the Ohio River Valley, analyze the severe damage to small towns that have never looked the same, and marvel at some of the best footage of this tornado outbreak that, if you're a weather nerd, you've probably seen before--you just didn't know the full context.
