Download the map on Unreal Archive: https://unrealarchive.org/maps/unreal... Unreal Tournament 2004 had many sub-genres appear over the years. Trials was a sub-genre of Assault that tested the player's mastery of UT2004's advanced movement mechanics including dodge-jumping, wall-dodging, shield-jumping and more. I spent who knows how many hundreds of hours just in Trials maps alone back in the day. Aquatica is one of the "easier" trials maps and one of the handful I can actually complete in a reasonable amount of time. I always loved this map's aesthetic design even if the actual level design did not age as gracefully (hello stupid insta-kill maze with no way to tell the right path). At some points you'll see me jump in place before attempting a jump. Sometimes UT2004 will eat your jump and jumping in place resolves that. Level notes: Level 2 - You can use the Shield Gun to block damage from certain types of sources like the one at the beginning of this level. Level 4 - Door maze solution is right-left-right-center-right. Level 5 - Very fortunate to get this in one go. The purple maze has instant-death doors everywhere so you have to take pretty much the exact route I did to get through it. It's a long difficult level with no checkpoints so if I screwed up the platforming section after the purple maze I would've had to do the whole thing again. Level 6 - The fans at the beginning used to be a lot more lethal but now it's easier to get past them. I don't know if it was a later revision of the map or how UT2004 handles on modern systems that caused this change. Level 7 - A lot of sloppy gameplay here. Had to constantly check my notes as there are fake lifesavers at the beginning that you can't even check with the Assault Rifle (some fake platforms in trials maps can be shot through with the Assault Rifle to tell that they're fake). Made an embarrassing mistake at the end where instead of pressing the use key on the final objective...well, I pressed something else. Whoops! There's a bit of unstable framerate in the video. I had trouble recording UT2004 initially but if I do more of these maps I have a better solution in mind that will hopefully resolve this frame hitching. Credit for the map goes to Naabis.
