Från bakgrundskörer i Göteborg tar hon nu steget och ställer sig längst fram på Melodifestivalscenen. Etzia, eller Erica Latilda Haylett som hon heter, ville egentligen bli advokat och började studera ekonomi. Efter två år på utbildningen hoppade hon av och ett musikintresse började växa sig allt starkare. Erica körade bakom reggaeartister i Göteborg och artisten Etzia växte fram. Hon släppte två låtar och bestämde sig sedan för att studera på folkhögskolan "The Music College" i Angered där hon fick möjlighet att utvecklas inom musiken. Etzia har även engagerat sig för att hjälpa fram tjejer inom musikbranschen. Låten Etzia tävlar med beskriver hon på följande sätt, – Låten är en kärleksfull upplyftande låt med reggeapop-toner.
