Many anglers try to avoid snags by fishing lighter, and drifting higher in the water column - the cautious approach. They're worried about losing flies, or having to replace tippet or a leader. And this leads to missed opportunities. But learning to free your snag without losing your fly or destroying your leader can make it much less frustrating, and can give you the confidence you need to take the risk and get those flies down in front of the trout.
