This past year has been a time of great sadness and grief that has taken many forms. No matter what form your grief has taken, we hope that you take a moment to honor your feelings from this past year as you experience our rendition of Élégie. Élégie (An Elegy is a poem of deep reflection, usually a lament for the dead. Massenet’s Élégie has been through many adaptations, but his vocal version was set to the following poem by Louis Gallet): O sweet Spring of yesteryear, green seasons, you have fled forever! I no longer see the blue sky, I no longer hear the joyous songs of the birds! You have fled, my love, and with you has fled my happiness. And it is in vain that the spring returns! For along with you, the cheerful sun, the laighing days have gone! As my heart is dark and frozen, so all is withered for evermore!
