Ayshigül Mämät (aka Ayshämgül Muhämmäd), a native of Shiho county in Northern Xinjiang, is one of the well-known Uyghur singers in China. A current vocal professor and alumna of Xinjiang Art College, Ayshigül has received considerable media and public attention among Uyghurs, especially for her efforts devoted to preserve Uyghur folk songs which performance usually requires a well-trained voice and, harmonic and rhythmic interplay during the melody. Ayshigül has performed numerous shows not only in Xinjiang, but also in adjacent Turkic nations such as Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in addition to her vocal presentations in Europe and North America.
