Mirjam lived and worked in New York City for 7 years—she is a recipient of a Fulbright grant, has an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University and an M.A. with a special degree in Business and Economic Reporting from New York University. She worked as a journalist for Reuters, the international news agency. She currently lives in Budapest and in Brasilia with her husband and two children. The summary on the back of her memoir Mások álma (Dreams of Others, 2017) says: "Mirjam Donath graduated from the best universities of New York then worked for the world's largest multimedia news provider in a Times Square skyscraper for long years. But she wasn't happy." The whole truth is: she was happy too. Nevertheless, she did return to her small home country Hungary and left the American dream behind. In a talk about roots and dreams, she shares her dilemma with these two most inspiring forces that shape our decision to embark on a journey as well as to abandon an adventure.
