Credit of this painting technique to ‪@karlmakesthings‬ in their “Speed Painting Phase 1 Clone Troopers” video. I saw Karl’s video years ago, and thought it was an awesome idea! It’s a great way to get a solid tabletop standard and unique look for your minis. While you can use this method to paint classic white clone/stormtrooper armor, I think the real magic happens when you try other colors like green, red, blue or tan! Just follow the same ideology of 3 colors tones over a black or grey prime that you build up while paying attention to where light would naturally hit the miniature.
