🍊The Last of Us Part 2 is full of contradictions. Abby and Ellie are two of the most daring and bold choices for leading characters that have ever been seen in video games. Naughty Dog didn't pull any punches with those. Now, people argue that the structure of the game itself does a disservice to the narrative. I personally disagree. Without the structure, the argument the game makes can't fully land. In part, TLOU2 is about whether you are comfortable seeing people change. Joel isn't a good person. He never really was. He came around, yes. But so did Abby. And it's not fair to judge her differently, than him. I want to argue why I think that and I hope my queer perspective is one a few of you haven't yet seen. Joel isn't a survivor, Abby isn't a Wolf, and people are too complex for a 4-letter word.
