#WW2 #Lowestoft #Defences During world war two Lowestoft was home to an important port used not only for transporting vital freight such as coal from the north but also home to a Royal Naval Base which saw over 70,000 recruits pass through it. Ensuing the town wasn't invaded was imperative and so was turned into a fortress town, surrounded on all sides but numerous defences including anti-tank ditches and concrete blocks, plus many pillboxes and gun emplacements. In todays video we go in search of some of the remaining defences that were constructed around the north of the town to see what we can still find.. Hope you enjoy watching our explore of the area.
