This dance is special to me. I grew up in the 80s, but I didn’t discover “Running Up That Hill” until my tweens made me watch Stranger Things with them. Waiting for each new season and watching it together became a tradition that bonded us through the years. Now they’re young adults, and every time I hear this song, I’m reminded of the joy of those moments — raising them, growing with them, and simply being their mom. The title If I Only Could also also reminds me of our homeschooling years. Many times I wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself, “If I only could… I can, and I will.” That same encouragement carried me into choreographing dances and writing my book, even on days I doubted myself. This dance is a tribute to those memories, that perseverance, and the beauty of not giving up.
