Cleveland Police arrest a housecleaner after she's caught stealing from one of her clients. The suspect worked for Medi-Home Private Care, a corporate-owned personal care company. One victim is now warning others there very well could be more victims out there.Police pulled over Janet Combs on Tuesday and took her into custody. You can see in her booking photo, she still had her scrubs on. That's because she had just left the home where police say she stole from. She seemed to be a beautiful Christian woman. I think she said a lot of this to make me trust her, said Lucille Herron, one of Combs' clients. And Lucille Herron did trust Janet Combs, who had been cleaning her home since mid-January. Herron had originally hired someone else to clean their home in the beginning of 2011. Combs filled in for the usual cleaning lady one day, and Herron liked her so much, she requested her full-time. We laughed and talked and prayed together, and it was just a wonderful experience while she was here. I just trusted her completely, said Herron. But it wasn't until Easter Sunday that Herron reached for her best silverware and noticed nearly 40 pieces missing, valued at more than $2,000.Herron suspected Combs of stealing, but had to prove it. Before Combs came to clean on Tuesday, Herron checked how many pieces of silverware were in the box. Immediately after Combs finished dusting and left, Herron called police. More pieces had been taken. Police pulled over her car, and arrested the housekeeper then and there. Because she had it in her car when she was caught, said Herron.Unfortunately, Herron only got back less than a dozen utensils. Combs told police she sold the rest to help her son pay his bills.I have a security system for the house but that doesn't protect me when I invite someone in to do work for me, said Herron.Police say Combs admitted to stealing a necklace from another client, valued at $1,000. Calls to Combs employer, Medi-Home Private Care on Hwy. 153, were not returned. She posted bond and was released from jail. Her court date is set for April 30th.By Natalie Jenereski
