CINCINNATI (Joe Webb) -- A villa hills teenager, who loves dogs, has turned that passion into a successful business. Allie Clegg is the name behind Allie's Walkabout, a successful dog sitting business. She's more than the name, she's the founder of the business she started when she was 9-years-old. I asked my dad for spending money. He said he wouldn't give me any but he'd teach me how to earn it, said Allie. Allie went from door to door and handed out fliers to make a few dollars walking people's dogs. She got two takers that first summer. The next year someone asked her to dog sit. Allie said, It was just like referrals after referrals and like by year three we had dogs almost every day. In 2015, seven years later, Allie's Walkabout routinely boards 15 dogs a day with five to 10 in doggie day care. Her father had no idea a spending money request would turn into this. It was just a teachable moment and that was all I was thinking. So I really had no concept that this is where it would take us, David Clegg said. There's a full-service website and the whole family is in on the deal; mom Mary, sister Audrey and Allie's brother Simeon all care for and entertain the clients from the family's home in Villa Hills. When the business doubled the third year, fourth year, fifth year and sixth year Allie outgrew mom and dad's house. So Allie's Walkabout will be setting up shop in an old factory building they've leased and are renovating. It will be 12,000 square feet they hope to be in by fall 2015. Proof the American dream is still alive; all you need is a good. CLICK HERE to learn more about Allies Walkabout. Follow Joe Webb on Twitter @joewebbwkrc, and LIKE him on Facebook.
