It’s an older recording, but the energy is still full throttle! My Setup Drum Kit: Baxter 4-piece kit—well-worn but reliable, delivering the goods until I upgrade (or score that dream endorsement!). Cymbals: Sabian Hand Hammered 14" Hi-Hats, 10" Splash, 18" China, AAX 22" Metal Ride, Mike Portnoy Signature 10" Stack. Hardware: Gibraltar double kick pedal, Gibraltar and Yamaha hardware. Drumheads: Evans Heads for a tight, aggressive sound. Sticks: ProMark 707s or Mike Portnoy Signature Millennium IIs. Recording Gear: Korg D-1600 for recording, mixing, and mastering, with CAD microphones on snare, toms, kick, and two overheads. Protection: Vic Firth Isolation Headphones (-24 dB) to protect my hearing—because you only get one pair of ears! Recording Process I captured the video with a basic HP digital camera, so the video quality is modest, but I prioritize crisp, high-quality audio. The sound is recorded, mixed, and mastered on the Korg D-1600. In post-production, I import the video and audio into Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, remove the camera’s audio, sync the mastered D-1600 audio, and edit it all together. This workflow ensures tight visuals and killer sound. I highly recommend Premiere Pro for content creators!
