Step back to 1997 and experience the raw energy of Shellac and Mule in their iconic split single, Soul Sound. Released on February 11, 1997, by Laff & Go Records as Shellac's eighth record, this 7" vinyl features two powerful tracks: 'The Rambler Song' by Shellac and 'Beauteous' by Mule. Shellac, formed in 1992 by Steve Albini, Bob Weston, and Todd Trainer, is renowned for their minimalist, angular sound and influential role in the noise rock and post-hardcore scenes. Mule, led by P.W. Long, blends punk, blues, and rock to create a raw and emotive musical experience. In this release, Shellac presents a unique version of 'The Rambler Song', originally from their 1993 7" 'The Rude Gesture (A Pictorial History)'. This rendition features a mellower arrangement with Rhodes organ and piano, offering a fresh take on the track. Mule's 'Beauteous', also found on their 1994 album 'If I Don't Six', is a smoky, bluesy number that highlights the band's genre-fusing capabilities and emotional depth. 0:00 The Rambler Song 3:00 Beauteous
