Hypospadias Matters, to the patients with this birth defect and their loved ones, and to the surgeons who work to change the abnormal anatomy of hypospadias into a normal penis. We created the Hypospadias Specialty Center to focus on finding the best surgical techniques and doing each step of them in the best way. Even though hypospadias is a common birth defect, few people have heard of it until they have a son born with it. We have heard their stories of fear and guilt and isolation, all made worse because people hesitate to talk about the penis. So we also established Operation Happenis to bring greater awareness, and have announced International Hypospadias Heroes Day every April 28 to recognize the patients, their parents and other loved ones, and the surgeons who all are impacted by this birth defect.
